Introduction to Love, Bria

Hello Everyone!

My name is Bria May (also known as B) and I am the author of Love, Bria. I am so excited to share more about myself and more importantly my journey!

I was born on March 11, 1994 in Denver, Colorado to my two amazing parents, Angela D. May and Kevin D. May. I also have a younger sister, who is my Irish twin and best friend, named Aisha May. These are the most important relationships that I have!

Currently, I am a black woman in my late twenties, navigating my way through adulthood and starting my career. I am a foodie, I’m vegan, I love to travel, I love music, fashion, shopping, podcasts, spending time with family and friends, STANNING Beyoncé, and most importantly – I love to WRITE.

Journey to J.D.

I graduated from the University of Colorado at Boulder in 2017 with a BA in English (Creative Writing) and a Leadership Certificate. I served as the Director of Communications for the Black Student Alliance for 3 years and I was a part of the ELLC Multicultural Leadership RAP throughout my entire undergraduate career. Additionally while in undergrad, I was able to pursue my passion of writing and working within my community to grow as a culturally competent leader and to combat various Social Justice issues for people of color and other underrepresented groups.

I was a law student and graduated from the University of Colorado Law School! During my time there I was a part of the Colorado Law Black Law Student Association where I previously served as the Student Bar Association Representative my 1L year and then as Historian 2L year. I loved being able to contribute towards and be a part of a safe space for Black students within Colorado Law’s community. I was also a Colorado Law Admissions and Orientation Leader and a Women’s Law Caucus Mentor. Mentoring and helping others navigate their way through law school is very important to me, as I would not be where I am today without my support system. I was previously a mentee in the Sam Cary Bar Association’s mentorship program. Finally, during law school I attended the American Bar Association’s annual Judicial Clerkship Program and I served as a Panelist and represented Colorado Law’s BLSA at the annual National Black Pre-Law Conference hosted by Harvard University.

Esquire

In May of 2021 I passed the Colorado Bar Exam and will soon be officially sworn in as a licensed attorney. This is something I worked extremely hard for and I am so excited to start my career as a practicing attorney. Y’all can call me Bria May, Esq. if you’d like!

She’s Alpha Kappa Alpha

As you can tell by my introductory photos, I am a proud woman of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. I am a part of the Denver Chapter of Epsilon Nu Omega where I’m completely devoted to service and sisterhood. I crossed over Spring 2018, with my 18 lovely sisters and I am just beginning my lifetime journey in this amazing sisterhood!

Love, Bria’s Purpose

Creating this blog was one of my solutions to finding some happiness through one of the hardest things I will ever do, which is make through law school with my self-esteem, sense of self, mental health, and sanity intact. Writing has always been a home and a happy place for me, so I started this blog not only as a therapeutic measure, but to also bring each of you along on my journey. I plan to share about all of the things I love, enjoy, value, or need to share. This is a passion project and a lifestyle blog – where I will talk about things ranging from writing, law school, mental health, and adulthood to fashion, food, traveling, music, health, beauty, and more!
